Most Popular Printed Office Desk Decor According to Survey
The British Promotional Merchandise Association, or BPMA, recently conducted a survey entitled “What’s on Your Desk.” The research aimed to identify the common printed desk accessories people usually keep or use.
A majority of the research participants came from London and South East. 56% of the respondents are female while the remaining 44% are male. Also, CEOs and people in the advertising, PR, and design industry comprised most of the survey population.
The respondents were asked a series of questions showing the relevance of such desk accessories in their office lives. The results also evidenced that branded merchandise helps a lot in promoting brand awareness. 83% said that they can name a brand featured on a personalised item on their desks.
Generally, the poll presented two main questions:
- What promotional merchandise do you have on your desk right now?
- Which among the printed desk accessories that you have would you like to keep?
If you’re also not sure about which office accessories you should have on your desk, you’ll see which ones are the most popular through this survey.
So if you’re a bit hesitant about investing in customised desk items, let the BPMA’s survey results guide you.
What is the BPMA? The British Promotional Merchandise Association conducts research. Its data is used in the development and understanding of using promotional merchandise for marketing success.
Most Displayed Desk Accessories for Work
Unsurprisingly, promo pens got the most number of votes with a total percentage of 89%.
Pens always come in handy when there’s a special task that needs to put in writing. People need them, no matter what style or colour they come in. Aside from being useful, pens are also cheap and can be stored even in small spaces.
Plus, people of all ages and professions highly rely on them. No wonder why these imprinted writing tools have remained to be a favourite desktop item.
Custom mugs hold second place as one of the most displayed desk accessories. 65% of the respondents said that they have a mug on their desk.
This type of drinkware doesn’t only sit on someone’s desk for no reason. They’re also people’s office or work buddy during coffee breaks and tea times.
Aside from being used for tea or coffee, an extra mug can be decorative, too. Some people use them as substitute desk organisers to keep pens, markers, and even paper clips.
3. Post-it Notes/Calendar
Post-it notes and calendars tied for the third spot at 54%. Both printed desk accessories probably became a top pick because of their usability and practicality.
Recipients can use the calendar as a reference point every single day, while they can use sticky notes as a desktop reminder.
If there’s a pen, there’s a notebook. That’s why it’s unquestionable how notebooks appeared as the fourth most displayed promo item on people’s desks. Pens and notebooks usually come hand-in-hand.
Despite being in an age where electronic accessories and organisers rule the work and school scene, most office workers still prefer a more concrete version of their notes.
Everyone owns a notebook and brings it to client meetings and presentations. People use them for jotting down notes related to both personal and professional affairs.
Most Kept Printed Desk Accessories
18% of the research participants said that they would love to keep this tiny marketing gift. This only proved that branded pens can have the power to keep your brand at the top of your customers and prospects’ minds.
Recipients can use personalised pens on a daily basis and they stick around for a long time. Sometimes, they also get passed around as people tend to lend and borrow pens around the office.
Planning to give out desktop calendars? That, in fact, is a clever decision.
The BPMA found that 14% of people would love to keep a calendar on their desk. Printed desk accessories such as this can give your brand an all-year-long brand exposure.
A desk calendar would be a great office desk decor that’s also quite useful.
Next on the list are mugs and notebooks.
13% of the respondents said that these branded items deserve a spot on their desks. Mugs can help people de-stress from their busy hours with a cup of tea. While having a notebook on top of the desk can make a pile of task or reminders truly eminent.
Imprinted calculators also make a fantastic business gift. Niche audiences like students, teachers, accountants, and other office workers can use them use them when doing simple to complex math calculations.
In fact, these desk accessories hailed fourth in the most valued promo merchandise race, with an average of 9%.
